During week 5, Chun Tat gave a basic tutorial on Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom. For the week 8 tutorial, we will focusing strictly on Lightroom, showing you how to optimise your workflow and make stunning photographs with just a few clicks!

Taronga Zoo Outing

This weekend, we will be having the Taronga Zoo Outing. We will be meeting at Wharf 2 at Circular Quay at 9.15am. This will give us ample time to purchase the tickets in order to catch the 9.45am ferry. Concession tickets available for University students. It's not necessary for you to remain with the group till 3.00pm and you can leave any time.

Photo Theory Tutorial/Discussion Session

This week, we will having a photo theory tutorial/discussion session. We will be reviewing the fundamentals of photography such as composition, exposure, metering, bracketing, HDR (High Dynamic Range), white balance, grey card which were very briefly covered during Week 2's introductory tutorial. We will also be conducting our usual photo review session as well. So please join us on Wednesday.

Easter Show Outing

Hey guys!

I'm happy to announce that we are organising another social event to the EASTER SHOW on the 15th April, which is a Wednesday.

We had about 30 people people show up to our last major social outing at the botanical gardens, and overall it was a great success with many excellent photos being taken and many new friendships formed. So lets get a number like that happenening again!
There will be many photo opportunities including musical parades, shows, rides, fashion parades, animals, and for those who stay til late there will be a fireworks/laser display.
As for social opportunities, or those coming to just have some fun there will be rides, showbags, plenty of food, games, and more!

Hey guys!
So we've got a whole bunch more in store in the photo club than last year. I, as the new social coordinator, am making sure that this year the photo club is filled with just as many social opportunities as photography. As the brochure said, we have a lot of events in store for you so if you haven't come down to one of our events yet, the one coming up should be great!

We have a Royal Botanic Gardens outing happening on Saturday, 21st March, meeting at 1 pm at Martin Place(Macquarie Street end of Martin Place - Opp. Sydney Hospital). If you can't make it there at that time, that's fine, we'll be there for several hours so just call us and we'll come meet you or tell you where we are.

So if you’re new to photography, this would be a great way of learning all the basics. Bring along your cameras if you have one, and if you’re unsure of any fancy features, someone can guide you along. And for the veterans, it’ll be a good chance to brush up on all that shutter speed and aperture knowledge as well as compare the size of each other’s lenses. For those intending to pick up photography, this is the best time to ask the veterans for suggestions and opinions.

Mardi Gras Parade 2009

The Annual Mardi Gras Parade is on this Saturaday 7th March. This parade will be the highlight of the Mardi Gras, the annual Gay and Lesbian Pride Festival. The night time parade will feature very extravegant outfits, glamour makeups and very interesting people. It will be a good opportunity for portrait, actions and night shots, as well as a fun night out.

The actual parade starts at 7:45 pm. However, the roads will be closed by 5:00 pm, which means that we would need to get there 4:00 pm the latest to secure a good spot for taking photos. Some events will be starting at 5:30 pm so don't worry you wont be bored.

How fast did that year go?

Shutterbug Photography Competition is now taking entries for the 2009 Festival.

We have a huge year planned with some great prizes and surprises.

One of the changes that we put into place in the 08 Projection was at least one photo from all entrants being shown on the big screen at the huge festival night. (check it out) We love all your work, so why not let everyone see it?

The Shutterbug website is now inter-active with the ability to share news with one click of a button to all your facebook type sites.
