Sculptures by the Sea - Sunrise Shoot UPDATED

Meeting at 5:30am SHARP on Friday 17th of October at the McDonalds across the street from Bondi Beach. If you're late, give one us a ring (shoot us off an email if you don't have our contact number), as the rest will be setting up most likely on the southern end of the beach.
Photoclub will head down to Bondi Beach for the annual Sculptures by the Sea event, for a sunrise shoot. Great chance to have a go at landscape/scenery shots with the presence of intriguing scultures and works of art!

There will be a theme for the day, in three categories:
- Man Vs Sculpture
- Golden
- Dynamic

Best photos in each categories will earn you points. Most points accumulated at the end of the year (which is coming up very soon) will be receiving a prize! So keep this in mind when shooting!

After the shoot, we'll be having breakfast at one of the Cafe's in bondi, and should wrap up by 9:00am.
If you can't make the shoot, not to fear, we'll also be gathering for lunch at uni at 12PM to show off a couple of pics from the morning shoot. =D
Don't forget to bring your tripod, camera accessories, filters and something warm.

Exclusive Circusoc Photo Shoot - Limited numbers!

In order to practice the skills that we will have learned during the lighting tutorial on Thursday, we'll be bringing our equipment down to the Physics Lawn the following Monday afternoon from around 5pm to around 9pm (1st September) to photograph a practice session of Circusoc, the UNSW Circus Society!

Here we can practice a variety of techniques including more conventional portraiture, dramatic lighting, lighting of moving subjects, lighting of fireplay and other luminous subjects and more.

Don't worry if you don't have any lighting equipment at the moment or even if you don't have a camera at all and just want to learn as there will be lots to see and do. However, if you're not already familiar with off camera lighting, it is strongly recommended that you come to the tutorial first.

Do you ever wonder how studio fashion photographs get that studio look or why product photos from the big electronics manufacturers look so much better than the snaps you see up on eBay? One thing that sets the professionals apart from the others is the ability to think about and control light. Join us as we explore the world of photographic lighting - how to think about light, the equipment we can use and how we can incorporate the ideas behind photographic lighting into our general photography. Along the way we'll also learn how to take photos that we admire and deconstruct them in order to learn how to use light in a similar way in our own creations.

We have a great line up of events, outings and tutorials, so remember to check your inboxes regularly for more updates. =D

Next Sunday the 17th August, we are organising an event to Live Green Festival which is held at Victoria Park in Camperdown. (Next to Sydney Uni) So if you're keen on greening up your life and taking sustainable photos in the process, I suggest you all come!

There will be competition on the day, where groups will be formed and themed challenges throughout the day. So come along and join in the fun!

Our brunch meeting spot will be at George Street Maccas, across the street from Railway Square, at 9am. There's plenty of cafes around, but that's where our central meeting spot will be. Shoot us an email if you're interested so we can gauge the numbers.

Hi Fellow Photographers,

Join us in an introduction to the world of close-up photography! In this tutorial we will cover the equipment, theory and techniques involved in taking photos of things on a small scale, from true macro photography on the scale of small insects and plants through to tabletop product photography. In particular we will cover the use of consumer point-and-shoot cameras as well as digital SLRs with a variety of lenses and the use of off-camera lighting with both improvised equipment and standard flashes.

Hope you all had a nice relaxing Easter Break before the 10 week crunch comes.
Just a heads up to let you all know that there’s going to be a Photoshop tutorial in Week 4, on Thursday the 10th of April at 5:30-7:30PM*, so keep that day free.

We’ve also arranged an outing to the Surry Hills Festival on Saturday the 12th of April at Prince Alfred Park. It will be a great festive day out with lots of things going on like catwalks, fashion shows, live music, actor appearances, dancers and dog shows. Lots of amusement park rides and food stalls as well. Bring your cameras along and get snapping!

Royal Easter Show

Hi to all the photocluber’s out there. This Easter photoclub is heading to Royal Easter show, the spiritual home of crazy lights, agricultural pavilions and fairy floss. Come along with us and take some photo’s, picking up tips and having a good ‘ole time.

We are heading to the show on Saturday 22nd of March, with everyone meeting up at Central Station at 11:30 (upstairs in the grand hall in front of Hungry Jacks, we will have a sign) and heading out to Homebush from there.

Tickets to the Easter show allow you to use public transport for free. Tickets can be purchased from Australia Post outlets or City Rail stations.
