Lens Life photographic competition is the perfect opportunity for all budding UNSW and COFA photographers to show their works and win great prizes. The competition culminates in an exhibition held during Artsweek in Week 5. Entrants must capture their student life in 24 images using a supplied disposable camera. We are have an exclusive opportunity for one UNSW PhotoClub member to cover this year’s performance from The Collegium Music Choir UNSW on Sunday 1st of June. As the photographer you will be in charge of capturing the various aspects of the day such as actions shots of performers, backstage stills and any spontaneous moments. These pictures will be collated and passed onto the coordinator.

Ideal equipment you will have will be a wide angle lens, fast lens telephoto and of course a DSLR body. A fast lens is crucial for shots during performance as flash photography is not allowed. It would be good idea to make a sound blimp during performance as you do not want to spoil the acoustic from when you released your shutter. This can be made easily by wrapping bubble wraps around your camera to insulate sound.

This photo competition aims to scrap the negative stereotypes against international students and to show everyone that international students life is 'fun, lively, & adventurous'.

This photo competition is open for all students in UNSW(You don't have to be an Arc Member) and the competition closes on Friday, 30th of May 2008, at 5pm.
Entrant can submit maximum of 2 photos and each photos must be accompanied by 50-100words description related to the theme...

The winner of this photo competition will get: IPod Shuffle 2GB, and runner-up will get: GorillaPod, the latest flexible tripod that will make photo - taking whole lot easier...

Istanbul Photo Contest 2008

Welcome to the web page of Istanbul Photo Contest 2008. “LES ARTS TURCS” marks its 10 years of cultural mission and for this reason we would like to celebrate by giving foreign photographers the opportunity to capture the importance of the historical peninsula of Istanbul. The photo competition is designed to encourage foreign photographers of all skill levels to submit photos that visually express how the old istanbul peninsula (Tarihi Yarimada) has undertaken the mission of all activities during the candidacy of Istanbul: 2010 European Capital of Culture.

The first draft and theme ideas of the contest have already been shared with our friends living abroad through e-mails and online announcements.

The Audi Art Award

The Audi Art Award supports students and graduates. It will be awarded for the first time in 2008 to talents from Hamburg and Hanover and a selection of their international partner cities.

A jury consisting of high grade representatives of the German art and culture scene will select the most impressing works. Without any costs for the artist, those works will be reproduced as high-end prints for a one-time exhibition.

The theme for the Audi Art Award 2008 is „Live Progressively" and directed at young and upcoming photography artists, who are invited to realize their artistic visions of progressive life.

The Nikon Photo Contest International

The Nikon Photo Contest International has been held by Nikon Corporation since 1969 to provide an opportunity for photographers around the world to communicate and to enrich photographic culture for professionals and amateurs alike.

"At the heart of the image" is not only the brand statement of Nikon Imaging Company, but it is also the theme for the 32nd contest, in which entries are invited in two categories. The first category is free subject and the second is entitled "My Planet" and entries to each category are accepted as prints sent by conventional mail or as JPEG images sent via the Internet. With this theme and these categories, we look forward to receiving expressive images from around the world that are true to people’s emotions.

Smithsonian magazine’s 6th Annual Photo Contest

M.I.L.K. Photo Competition

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the original M.I.L.K. competition, M.I.L.K. Licensing (now a subsidiary of PQ Blackwell), again in association with Elliott Erwitt, is conducting a new competition founded on the themes of friends, families, lovers and laughter to create a new collection of 150 images. The 150 winning images will be published in a new book entitled Fresh M.I.L.K.: Friends, Families, Lovers & Laughter in Fall 2009, and on selected licensed products.

We are seeking outstanding images (electronic only, no prints) that capture authentic, spontaneous and humorous moments shared between friends, families and lovers around the world. The content of the images submitted should possess some or all of the following characteristics:

Canon Photo5 2008 is a chance to show off your imagination and camera skills. Last year's competition inspired some truly outstanding shots. This year it's your turn and here's how it works;

1. Register for your Photo5 box.

2. You will receive your Photo5 box in the mail within 7 working days.

3. The box contains 5 secret objects.

4. Your challenge is to shoot each object in the most creative way that you can.

5. Upload your finished pictures from the 1 October for judging and your chance to win a share in over $50,000 worth of Canon prizes.

You don't have to shoot all five but remember the more you do the better your chance of winning. Only one shot per object can be entered.

National Photographic Portrait Competition 2009

The National Portrait Gallery invites all Australian residents to enter the National Photographic Portrait Prize 2009. The exhibition will be displayed in the National Portrait Gallery from 20 March to 24 May 2009 and will subsequently tour to a select number of Australian capital cities and regional centres. The Prize is an annual event intended to promote the very best in contemporary photographic portraiture by both professional and aspiring Australian photographers.

With the generous support of Visa International Service Association, the National Portrait Gallery is offering a prize of $25,000 for the most outstanding photographic portrait.

To celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission (HREOC) is holding a photo competition based on the theme - ‘Dignity and justice for all of us’.

The theme reinforces the vision of the Declaration as a commitment to universal dignity and justice, and reinforces how human rights are an inextricable part of our lives – for everyone, everywhere, everyday.

We’re searching for images that reflect the theme of the competition and provide a unique approach to a human rights subject. For some, the photograph will record a moment that celebrates dignity and justice; for others, it will capture fundamental rights and freedoms being recognised; or it may be an observance of what human rights means to you.

Photographic Competition and Exhibition

Theme: Our Community, Our Heritage.

Photographs entered in the competition should be taken in the Millers Point area (see location map) and illustrate aspects of the community which reflect the history of the area. The competition is open to all residents of Australia, including both established and emerging photographers.
